Definition

Market capitalization — also called market cap — shows what the market currently believes the entire company is worth. It is one of the most important measures of company size.

Formula: Market cap = Number of shares × Share price
Example: Equinor has ~3.2 billion shares at 356 NOK = market cap ~1,140 billion NOK
Size categories
Large cap: Over 10 billion NOK · Mid cap: 1-10 billion · Small cap: Under 1 billion
